Please refer to Mr Walford's (Legal Advisers) minute to Mr Paul (HKD) of 30 April (copy attached).

Legal Advisers would like HKD to coordinate a draft. I should be grateful if a contribution could reach me by close of play Wednesday 1 May to a draft letter from the Secretary of State to the Lord President and, if necessary, to a covering submission. Your contributions should cover the present view of the priority and political importance of a place being retained/awarded in the 1991/2 Legislative Programme to the following bills respectively:
European Communities (Amendment) Bill Antartic Environment Protection Bill Mauritius Republic Bill

The deadline is a real one: Mr Berman will need to consider the submission in the course of 2 May for submission that evening to Private Office.
