Suddenly, one of the police used his fist to hit my
right cheek. I went away from the barricades and found that my eye corner was hurt too. It took me 5 days for me to recover.
WITNESS FROM JOURNALISTS ON THE SPOT
(The real name of the journalists were not given in the report) JOURNALIST A
I arrived the spot as the Governor' car just passed by. I saw about 30 April-Fifth members sitting on the floor. Police force numbered about 100.

I saw Lau Wing Kam bargaining with B but could not hear what they Later Lau used a loudhailer to say to the public that B promised him to send 5 representatives with their banners to spot B to demonstrate. When 2 of the 5 representatives went into the restricted area barred by the police, they were stopped by the police. The 2 then retreated. Somebody used a loudhailer
to denounce the police of eating their promise. No response was made from the police. April-Fifth was very dissatisfied. They formed a front trying to break through the police's blockade. I was standing between the two sides so I could see better. situation was very confusing when both sides were pushing. But for sure, the police was having the upper hand as the barricades were being pushed towards the mass crowd. The police was able to stop the mass from proceeding. After a while, one from the April-Fifth asked the crowd to stop and sit down. Then I saw а man in white was inside the police area surrounded by about 10 policemen. Since I was standing quite close to them, I saw the police pressing that man on the floor and beating him up. I was sure that man is unable to fight back. Another man went inside the police area. But he was further away from me, I was not sure exactly what happened. But both men were taken to the Building by the police. So I waited outside the Building.

When I was waiting, I asked B about about the bargaining between police and April-Fifth. He denied any promise of sending 5 representatives to spot B. But he did not say anything about not responding and clarifying when April-Fifth denounced the police of eating their promise. When asked whether it means April-Fifth lying, B said he never said SO. Whether it was due to misunderstandings during their bargaining, I did not know. 20 minutes later, ambulances came. The first one came out was a policeman His hand was hurt but it was bandaged. Then came the two arrested. The third arrested person was bleeding at the left eye corner.
JOURNALIST B
I arrived at about the same time as Journalist A. I was standing near the Building. I saw the first person dragged into the building was a foreign student. He looked worse, struggling a bit.
I tried with other journalists to enter the building, but was stopped by the police. The reason was that we were not residents of the building. We waited outside.
