Drafts notes verbales, other correspondence and communications
to States parties to the international human rights instruments, and prepares introductory statements for the Under-Secretary-General for Human Rights at various meetings dealing with the activities of human rights treaty bodies.
Undertakes correspondence and communications with States parties, Committee members, specialised agencies, and United Nations Departments and Services.
Provides legal research assistance to members of the Human Rights Committee as may be required.
Also undertakes, as appropriate, legal research related to the work of the Human Rights Committee under the Optional Protocol in handling individual complaints of human rights violations and assists in drafting relevant decisions.
Undertakes other ad hoc assignments relating to the activities of the Section as may be required.
