The above prisoner is presently serving a life sentence in
Stanley Prison.

He was convicted of 'Murder' and was sentenced to Death on 16.11.1979. He applied on 19.11.1979 for leave to appeal against the conviction and also applied for legal aid. As he later engaged his own private legal representative, the withdrew his application for legal aid on 16.5.1980. His appeal was heard and dismissed on 23.6.1980. He then applied for legal aid on 24.6.1980 to appeal to the Privy Council, which was refused on 18.7.1980. He later applied for legal aid to petition the Governor for clemency and his Death sentence was commuted to Life Imprisonment on 4.5.1981.

After the commutation of his Death sentence, he has been
assigned to work in the Garment Making Workshop and it is reported
that he is attentive and productive at work. He has been receiving the highest earning grade since 1984. His overall work performance is good.

During his period of imprisonment, he has incurred two reports for breach of prison discipline (one during remand period) and was awarded a total of 31 days forfeiture of privileges, 24 days separate confinement and 21 days deprivation of earnings. Since his last report in January 1984, he has managed to behave himself and his overall institutional behaviour is good.
