When interviewed at Shek Pik Prison on 2.11.90, Prisoner was expressive and showed verbal remorse towards his serious misdeeds. He said he had learnt a grave lesson from the past twelve years' imprisonment and was sincere to rectify himself. He revealed that he had been a waitor for a year before incarceration. In the last six years, he was mainly assigned duties in book-binding. In view of his young age and work experience, he expressed confidence to resume working if he was granted a chance to be released from prison. Prisoner also claimed he had maintained regular correspondence with his family in China and he hoped that there might be one day he could fulfil his duty to look after his mother. He earnestly prayed that his life imprisonment could be reduced a fixed term sentence.

The gathered information reveals that Prisoner's mother is leading a simple and sufficient livelihood in Mainland China. She is in good health in her advanced age and receives adequate support from her son who lives under the same roof. Apparently, there is no immediate social grounds to substantiate the petition lodged by his mother, which is thus not supported. Nevertheless, Prisoner has expressed verbal regret and alleged to have learnt bitter lesson from his imprisonment which may hopefully deter him from stepping out of the line again in future.
