4.
Shipping Advisory Board/Working Party
4.1.
The CD proposed that a Shipping Advisory Board
(SAB) be established to advise the Administration on
broad policy for the proper development and good
management of the Hong Kong shipping industry. It went
on to suggest that one of the Board's early tasks would
be to advise on the establishment of a separate and
autonomous register. A tentative membership list was
also suggested.
4.2.
The comments we received were generally in
favour of the establishment of such an Advisory Board.
There was, however, a divergence of opinion as to
whether the Board should have any direct role in the
establishment of future operations of the register.
There was virtually unanimous comment that the
particular organisation represented by the commentator
should have a seat on the Board.
