Following on this relaxation of policy, a seminar (believed to be the first of its kind) to promote

manufacturing investment in the UK was held in Hong Kong on 13 November. The attached telegram from BTC Hong Kong gives further details of the IBB-sponsored event which was organised by the British Trade Commission and was highly successful. It was apparent that not only was there a high level of interest in outward investment, but also that there
was ignorance about the UK as a manufacturing base within the EC, which the seminar helped to rectify.

If the level of interest shown at the seminar is
maintained, BTC Hong Kong plan to hold another IBB-sponsored seminar in Hong Kong in about 18 months time.
