Convention on the Marking of Plastic Explosives
for the Purpose of Detection

The International Conference on Air Law, in which the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China participated,
in Montreal from 12 February to 1 March 1991 and adopted convention on the Marking of Plastic Explosives for the
Purpose of Detection ("the Convention") which aims to deter
acts of terrorism. The United Kingdom signed the Convention
on 1 March.

major features of the Convention are:
(a) all plastic explosives manufactured by parties to the Convention will have to be marked through the addition of a chemical additive;
parties are required to prohibit and prevent the
manufacture or possession of unmarked explosives in
territories or the movement of unmarked explosives

military stocks 15 years after entry into force of the
