Statistics of time rates of wages and normal hours of work are available from the Survey of Wages, Salaries and Employee Benefits. In each survey, it includes about 2 000 large and medium-sized establishments which are selected from 41 principal industries spanning the major economic sectors in the territory. Data on time-rates of wages and normal hours of work are collected for a total of some 400 different Occupations,

The statistics published are analysed by industry, occupation, 6ex and mode of payment of the employees.

The published time rates of wages are broken down by basic wage rates and wages including guaranteed allowances and bonuses. At the Gaine time, percentages of employees in different occupational groups entitled to various kinds of fringe benefits are also available once every two years.

Attempt has been made since March 1982 to collect information on Hage structure from about 2 000 large and medium-sized establishments randomly selected to represent 41 principal industries spanning . the manufacturing, wholesale/retail, import/export trades and restaurants and hotels, transport services, business services and personal services sectors. However, no attempt has yet been made to collect information on wage distribution.
