(iii) Eligibility for Membership

At its Nineteenth Session (Kyoto, Japan, 1980), the Commission decided that the membership of the IPFC Special Committee on Management of Indo-Pacific Tuna should be made open-ended so that any member country of the Commission could become a member of the Committee, if it wished.

to review the state of the stocks of tuna in the Indo-Pacific area, in relation to the present level of exploitation and likely future development;

to consider the boundaries of the area that have to be taken into account in any future management of tuna in the western Pacific, considering the movements of fish and fishing vessels;

(c) to review, for purposes of discussion and information, measures

that might be considered for management and development plan- ning of the tuna fisheries in the IPFC area, and to suggest the administrative and other actions that would be required to put such measures into effect; and
