Terms of reference
(As agreed by the Commission at its Nineteenth Session (Tokyo, Japan, 1980))
With regard to the capture of fisheries in inland and enclosed coastal waters, the Working Party shall:
(a) report on the status of the resources in the IPFC region and identify needs for international action leading to their better development and management;
(b) formulate and encourage lines of approach to common research
programmes on fishery biology, ecology and environment, to lead to better development, management and conservation of the resources; and
(c) identify problems of statistics, technology, aquaculture and
related aspects, liaising with other appropriate working parties of SCORRAD, in deciding upon the best means of accomplishing work in these fields.
For the purpose of this Working Party, enclosed coastal waters shall be lagoons, estuaries and mangrove areas.
