The Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress
The
Legislative Affairs Commission was established in
1979 at the 11th National People's Congress for the purpose of developing the socialist democracy and legal
system.

The Legislative Affairs Commission has a Chairman, Vice
Chairman, Secretary General and 6 Departments.
They
are

a) general office;
research department;
c).
state organs and administrative law;
a)
criminal law;
e)
civil law;
f)
economic law.

According to legal
to legal provisions the Legislative Affairs
Commission is a working organ of the Standing Committee
of the National People's Congress. Its functions
include the drafting, research and revision of.
statutes. All basic criminal and civil laws and

organic lavs are drafted by the Legislative Affairs
Commission. Those laws drafted by State Council and
submitted to the Standing Committee of the National
People's Congress or the National People's Congress for
enactment are also examined, considered and revised by
the Legislative Affairs Commission.
Apart
fron the above, the Legislative Affairs
Commission is responsible for all legal matters
relating to the Standing Committee,

enquiries on legal matters. It is also responsible for
compiling, translating and publishing legal documents.
