Safety

9.

The

admission of a limited

left-hand-drive

number of PRC

coaches should not pose any major traffic

safety risk. A mix of left-hand-drive and right-hand-drive

vehicles has been allowed to co-exist in the United Kingdom

and in Europe without any apparent problems.

10.

The fitting of passenger doors on both sides of

vehicle and the display of "left-hand-drive" warning

sign should enhance passenger safety.

11.

extended

As a further road safety measure, PRC coach

drivers will be required to attend an

familiarization course in Hong Kong before they are

licensed to drive.

12.

This scheme (together

with the pilot scheme on

mission to Hong Kong of 200 left-hand-drive PRC goods

vehicles) will be closely monitored by both the Police and

the Transport Department.

Controls and Standards

13.

These are

requirements as

followed except

considered adequate as the same

for PRC goods vehicles (Annex A) would be

where obviously inappropriate e.g. para 12

of Annex A.
