The (Draft) Basic Law of the Macao SAR for Solicitation of Opinions is the crystallization of the joint efforts of Drafting Committee members from Macao and the mainland. Its drafting has received all along the vigorous cooperation of all sectors, especially the Consultative Committee for the Basic Law of Macao. The residents of Macao are generally concerned about the Basic Law, and the numerous ideas and suggestions they put forward have been incorporated into the (Draft) Basic Law of the Macao SAR for Solicitation of Opinions. Promulgating the (Draft) Basic Law of the Macao SAR for Solicitation of Opinions and extensively soliciting views from Macao and the mainland will further improve the revision of the articles in this draft. We believe that with the efforts of the Drafting Committee and with the care and support of people from all sectors, we will definitely be able to draft a Basic Law for the Macao SAR that reflects the "one country, two systems" principle, conforms to Macao's reality, and satisfies the entire Chinese people including Macao compatriots, thus accomplishing the glorious task assigned by history. Criticism in Taiwan of fishery agreement with Philippines (FE/1122 A3/7 [25] - Text) Council of Agriculture Chairman Yu Yu-hsien said on Friday [12th July] the latest ROC-Philippine fishing agreement is official in nature and will benefit the nation's fishery development over the long run. He made a statement amidst severe criticisms of the pact by lawmakers who questioned whether it was an official document. They also criticized and said that instead of benefiting from the agreement, Taiwan went as far as to promise a wide range of aid programmes in return.
Wire service reports cited that the Philippine Foreign Secretary Raul Manglapus as saying that Manila will review the agreement with Taipei after Peking criticized the pact as a violation of the one-China policy. Manglapus said a group of Philippine officials, who signed the agreement with the ROC officials in Taipei last Sunday, may have exceeded their authority.

Under the agreement, Manila agreed to provide Taiwan fishing vessels with two sea lanes for them to pass through on the way to the South Pacific. In exchange, Taipei agreed to help to rebuild facilities in Philippine port, hire more Philippine sailors, and provide agricultural aid to the Philippines. Mongolia signs inspection agreement with Chinese Inner Mongolia region An agreement on friendly cooperation between the imported and exported commodity inspection bureau of Inner Mongolia under the PRC and the imported and exported commodity inspection bureau of the industrial and commercial council of the Mongolian People's Republic was signed in Mongolia recently. The agreement stipulates: The two sides should exchange and provide each other with pertinent inspection standards for major and staple exported commodities, and should exchange specialists and technicians to trade commodity inspection skills and methods. In trade activities, commodity inspection departments of importers are allowed to send personnel to the exporters to conduct commodity pre-inspection before the exporters load and transport their commodities. Pakistan denies Indian report of deployment of Afghan mojahedin (Text) A news release issued in Rawalpindi today [16th July] by the Inter-Services Public Relations Department described as totally baseless the Indian media reports that Pakistan has deployed a special Afghan mojahedin guerrilla force near the line of control at Punch and Rajauri sectors to assist Kashmiri freedom fighters. The press release said it is a mere fictitious story and is a part of Indian propaganda meant to mislead world opinion on the freedom struggle in occupied Kashmir.
