BASIC LAW: HARDBACK TEXT

Some time ago, you sent us a copy of the published Basic law and in hardback form (ISBN No 7-5036-0696-7/D 556). It contains the text of the Basic Law in Chinese and English, together with the text of Ji Pengfei's speech to the NPC on 28 March 1990.

Paul Fifoot, who as you know has been following closely the drafting of the Basic Law over the past five years, has expressed interest in having a copy of the book. I should be most grateful if you could obtain another copy locally. Paul would be happy to reimburse the Embassy for this if necessary.

I assume you have a copy in the Embassy yourselves. case not, what you are looking for is a deep turquoise book measuring 8" x 5" and about " thick. On the cover it has the PRC crest (five star s over Tiananmen Gate) and "The Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China" in red lettering in English and Chinese.
