You will recall that earlier this year we discussed the Hong Kong Immigration Department's use of the VWL and there was correspondence between me and

I understand that, in the event, HKID decided against Keeping the VWL on CINDEX. To ensure a greater degree of security and to avoid the need for updating they have instead been relying on the manual record. However, they only have one copy and this is shared between the visa section and the British Nationality _division which is doing to work under the British Nationality

(Hong Kong) Act 1990.

HKID have asked whether they might have a second copy of the list to be used exclusively by the BN Division. I would strongly support this request. There is, as you may know, a legal deadline for the submission of recommendations for citizenship and HKG are worryingly behind schedule with their work in processing applications. The availability of a second list would speed the completion of the necessary background checks.

If you agree to a second list being made available I should be grateful if the necessary arrangements could be put in hand.
