The Director General of the BBC, Mr Michael Checkland, has asked to call on the Secretary of State to discuss developments in BBC World Service Television. He has requested a meeting next week and intends to bring Mr Chris Irwin of the BBC, and a Mr Lee, the son of the Chairman of Hutchison Whampoa, who have links with BBC World Service Television in Hong Kong.

I should be grateful for very early advice.
