NEWSPAPER ARCHIVE RELATING TO HONG KONG.
1.
We spoke. I have since seen a copy of Miss Spencer's minute to Mr Paul. As I said on the telephone, I thought a possible recipient might be newspaper archive at Chatham House. Failing that, or possibly indeed in preference to that, the Centre for Modern Chinese Studies at Oxford might well be interested. The address I have for them is Belsyre Court, 57, Woodstock Road, Oxford OX2 6FA. As Mr Paul is aware, an academic called Steve Tsang is engaged on a project relating to modern Hong Kong there. Another body that might be interested is the Contemporary China Institute in SOAS. I know the director, Bob Ash, has been trying to get a research project on Hong Kong off the ground and might well find this a very valuable archive. Should these not be interested, I would suggest other universities with a possible interest in such an archive would be LSE, the University of Leeds, and the Northumbrian Universities' East Asia Centre at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
