We are very much aware of the concerns expressed by the AECS and, of course, we share their desire to promote stability in the Hong Kong public service in the run-up to 1997 and beyond. In close consultation with the Hong
Kong Government, we are giving urgent consideration to a
number of pension-related issues.
I regret that I cannot be specific about timing, but
hope to be able to make an announcement in the not too
distant future.
