LETTER FROM THE ASSOCIATION OF EXPATRIATE CIVIL SERVANTS
(AECS) IN HONG KONG : HMOCS PENSIONS : STERLING SAFEGUARDS
AND SUPPLEMENTARY PENSIONS FOR OVERSEAS SERVICE (SPOS)
A
Problem
1.
Lord Caithness has received a letter from
Mr Graham Smith, Chairman of the Pensionable Service
Committee of the AECS, about sterling safeguards for HMOCS
pensions and unsatisfactory SPOS arrangements. Who should
reply and in what terms?
Recommendation
2. I recommend that a Departmental reply be sent to
Mr Smith along the lines of the attached draft.
Background
3.
AECS represents expatriate civil servants (excluding police officers) currently employed by the Hong Kong
Government.
Lord Caithness will recall our submission of
25 January which dealt with two letters from retired Hong
Kong members of HMOCS about the depreciating value of HMOCS pensions and unsatisfactory SPOS arrangements.
