OVERSEAS OFFICERS IN HONG KONG: PENSIONS
Thank you for your letter of 10 June about new pensions.
As
I have taken up the points in your letter with the Hong Kong Government, with whom responsibility for these matters rests. you will know, they see no compelling reason to extend the 30 June 1992 deadline for HMOCS officers only. They also point out that eligibility for any possible future HMOCS arrangements, including compensation, would not be affected by whether an officer was on the old or the new pension schemes. The matter will however be kept under review.
I can understand HMOCS members' wish to know as soon as possible about any possible future HMOCS arrangements. These matters are the subject of current discussions between the British and Hong Kong Governments, and at present there is nothing I can add to our earlier statements.
Yours Sincerely Plan Pawe
