What was PM's replys

I attach copies of the 1985 minuting with the Prime

Minister and the 1988 minuting with the Treasury.

3. I also attach my minute of 27 September showing what the

compensation would mean in money terms for two "average"

cases of officers (Administrative Officer Staff Grade C and

a Chief Inspector).

4.

On HMG's recognition of its obligation in relation to compensation of HMOCS officers, we can only find ready to ▷ hand Sir Richard Luce MP's letter to George Foulkes MP of

23 November 1984. We would need to treat this line with

care in our discussions with the Treasury because of its implication that adequate arrangements have been made in the

Joint Declaration.

5. Mr Fish, ODA will arrive at 11.00 am on 12 November to talk with you before the main meeting. Unfortunately

Mr Kerby cannot arrive any earlier than 11.30 am as he has a meeting with his Minister beforehand.

6.

Mr Mortimer is not coming. The Treasury have not revealed to us with the Treasury about their likely line of

attack.
