Our Ref: PAY (90)76

3 August 1990

1 3.000

Chris Kelly's letter of 16 July 1990 (PAY(90)66) gave details of the provisional agreement which had been reached with the unions concerned about the August 1990 pay settlement for staff covered by the Grades 5 to 7 Pay Agreement.

The unions have now consulted their members and have accepted the offer.

This letter accordingly authorises departments to implement revised rates of pay as shown in the revalorised Grades 5 to 7 spine at appendix A from 1 August 1990.

2. Grade 4s and their equivalents will retain their existing positions on the pay spine and will have their pay rates

This

revalorised in line with the main Grades 5 to 7 settlement. letter authorises departments to implement the revised rates for Grade 4s and equivalents from 1 August 1990.

3. Annex A of DEO PAY (89)94 of 31 October 1989 gave relevant details of all general service and departmental grades covered by the 1989 Grades 5-7 settlement, together with details of Grade 4s and their equivalents. Most grades remain on the spine points shown in this Annex following the 1990 settlement. Details of those grades which have moved to different spine points as a result of individual pay settlements over the past year are shown in appendix B to this letter.

An advance copy of Code Memorandum CM935 is also attached.

I should be grateful if departments could ensure that staff in linked non-departmental public bodies have their pay increased in accordance with the usual procedures, so that the revised pay these staff is not delayed.

6. I have written separately to Establishment Officers about the revised arrangements for calculating the quota on performance pay awards for Grades 5 to 7.
