The main newcasts in the electronic media sɛid that Omelco members generally reacted favourably to the Sino-British agreement on the sizport project. Jimmy McGregor said in the circumstances no better deal could have baen done. He said the airport project was now underway that was of vital importance to HK.

Martin Barrow, of the HK Tourist Association, told R-3 from his home in England, that he was pleased with the agreement. He said that it was good for HK and for tourism.

Maria Tom said she was pleased. Joha Swaine described it as "the best deal HK can get”.

Tam Yiu-chung said he was happy with the agreement.

Dr Leong Che-hung said that with the deal, HK would have to give up some of its autonomy.

Baroness Dunn said she was glad about the agreement. It was a sensible and practical agreement, she said.
