Connaught Bridge Power Station (1988-1990)

In April 1990 NEI Parsons was awarded a contract by Lembaga Letrik Negara (LLN) for the turnkey conversion of Connaught Bridge Power Station in Malaysia to combined cycle operation. Schroders acted as financial adviser to NEI on the financial aspects of its bid and subsequently negotiated a £43.6 million UK export credit to finance this contract. The balance of the finance for the offshore portion of the works is to be provided by the UK government in the form of a £23.5 million non-repayable aid grant.

Taiping Water Supply (1989 to date)

Schroders is adviser to Innovest Berhad and Lyonnaise Des Eaux on the financing of a privatised water supply scheme. The concession agreement has been signed and loan signature is due shortly.

Delta Newsprint (1988 to date)

Schroders is financial advisor to Delta Newsprint, Teamwork and Taylor Woodrow on a M$300 million project to construct and privately finance a newsprint mill in Malaysia.

Transponder Services Sdn Bhd (1988 to date)

Schroders is financial adviser to Transponder Services Sdn Bhd which is negotiating a concession to supply, install, operate and finance 2 satellite receive and transmit earth stations and 30 receive only stations to provide services for Radio Television Malaysia.

TVRO Project, Malaysia (1988-89)

Schroders advised Transpower Services Ltd on its proposal for private financing of a network of television receive only stations in Malaysia, under a concession contract from RTM. The company is discussing its proposal with the Government.

Kuala Lumpur Toll Roads & Interchanges (1986-89)

Schroders has successfully advised Syarikat Teratai KG Sdn Bhd on the privatised construction, financing and tolling of a system of toll roads and interchanges in Kuala Lumpur. The concession was awarded in 1987 and the privatised project financing, comprising M$65 million in equity and M$204 million in medium term bank loans, was completed in January 1989.

Sabah Water Supply (1989)

Schroders is helping John Holland and Lyonnaise Des Eaux conduct a feasibility study on the privatisation of water supply projects in Sabah, East Malaysia.
