persistence of a tight labour market, coupled with expectations of slow growth in the domestic supply of labour, calls from the private sector upon Government to review its policy on the importation of labour. This review has been completed. It is now considered that, in addition to existing arrangements
arrangements by which foreign workers at professional,
managerial, technician, craft and supervisory levels may be
allowed entry for employment, the importation of workers at the level of experienced operatives should be permitted subject to certain conditions. A decision is required. Separately, the new airport and airport-related projects call for special, project-specific imports of construction workers. A decision is also required.
