EXHIBITION SERVICES
Following the opening of the TDC's new Exhibition Services Centre in Yuen Long in March 1991, the Exhibition Services Section is providing special design support in order to further improve standards of presentation at local and overseas trade fairs and other promotional events.
The new three-storey centre is the territory's first purpose-built facility for preparing the equipment required for trade fairs and trade promotion activities. Located at the Yuen Long Industrial Estate, it houses design, fabrication, and audio-visual workshops for the production of customised exhibition and promotion booths, display materials, catwalks and backdrops. During the year, the Exhibition Services Section initiated design and construction services for many local and overseas companies. In addition to exhibition stands, the Centre also undertook assignments such as the construction of facilities for opening ceremonies and other special events.

FASHION
The TDC's Fashion Co-ordination and Press Sections in 1990-91 substantially increased the number of fashion promotions worldwide, as well as staging 18 luncheon fashion shows at top hotels in Hong Kong, such as the Ramada Renaissance, Conrad and Marriott. These occasions, aimed at introducing talented designers to the local market and generating greater interest in Hong Kong fashion, attracted growing attendances and media attention. The Fashion Section also organised seminars on design trends and garment manufacturing technology. During the year, more than 8,000 people in the apparel business made use of the Fashion Library or the facilities of the Fashion Club.
