arranged a pavilion for the first

In line with the territory's economic transformation from manufacturing base to regional trade and business services centre, the TDC widened the scope of its local services to promote the diversified commercial attractions of Hong Kong, particularly its growing role as an international trade fair centre.
TRADE FAIRS
During 1990, the number of trade fairs organised by the TDC in Hong Kong increased to 14, while the number of visitors who attended these fairs topped 1,092,000.
The Hong Kong International Watch & Clock Fair is now the second largest of its kind in the world, while the International Toys & Games Fair and Hong Kong Fashion Week generated record business volumes of HK$752 million and HK$487 million respectively. The two fairs attracted a total of 33,000 registered visitors. The first-ever participation of the European Fashion Export Council in Fashion Week in January, 1991, gave strong endorsement to the importance of Hong Kong as a trading centre for apparel in Asia. The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, the Hong Kong International Electronics Fair and the Hong Kong International Gifts & Houseware Fair also registered record numbers of overseas exhibitors and business results, reflecting their international appeal.
In addition to its portfolio of established fairs, the TDC organised several consuɛner- targeted events to promote Hong Kong as a market, provide a testing ground for over seas
