The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) was established in 1966 to promote and develop the

territory's two-way trade with the world.

From its headquarters in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Council provides extensive promotional support to Hong Kong industries, develops new markets and renders comprehensive services to local and international businesses via a network of 32 offices

in major cities around the world.

The Chairman of the HKTDC is appointed by the Governor of Hong Kong, while the other 18 Members of Council are representatives of major trade associations, leading business figures and two senior government officials. The Council has also set up advisory committees, representing the major industries in the territory, with which the Executive consults regularly on marketing strategies.
