CABLE AND WIRELESS INTERESTS IN HONG KONG
Thank you for your submission of 29 August, which Mr Sainsbury has seen and noted. He made two observations.
(a) It would be hard for us as the liberalisers to argue
against liberalisation of Hong Kong's telecoms market.
(b)
It appears that the Chinese government has a 20% stake in cable and wireless Hong Kong subsidiary: presumably the FCO is thoroughly in the picture about this?
