The Secretary to the Inquiry into the Supervision of the Bank

of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) has written to the

PUS seeking the FCO's co-operation in the above Inquiry. We have

been asked to examine our papers and prepare a detailed

chronology of all relevant FCO contacts with BCCI, and/or of our

awareness of their affairs. In order to do so, we need first to

identify all relevant papers which the FCO holds concerning the

BCCI.

3. FCO departments are being asked to examine their papers. But

to suplement this, we should be grateful if you would also take

whatever steps you consider necessary to identify documents on your files, for the years 1988 to 1991 inclusive which contain

significant substantive references to the BCCI and related

organisations and any documents which reflect your post's
