I am writing to you concerning the position of the BCCI Depositors with the Hong Kong Bank.
I and a small delegation of staff and depositors will be 1991 to travelling to
Thursday 22 August Hong Kong on discuss with the depositors their particular circumstances.

I understand that there are problems in the Hong Kong Government giving approval to the possible sale of BCCI Hong Kong to a consortium of Business people and Banks and also that the Sheikh has stated that he will indemnify prospective purchaser against loss. It is therefore crucial that quick action is taken in order to accept the offer and proceed with the sale.
I would be glad if you would let me know whether the Foreign Office is involved in this matter and also whether the British Government has
any views
the success or otherwise of this venture.
