MFN Status for China

I should be grateful for very early advice on this. The Prime Minister would certainly be prepared to write letters to leading Congressmen. With the House in Recess, there is no obvious opportunity there to say anything in public, but we will look at the possibility of interviews, and it would be helpful if Brian Mower could consult with Gus O'Donnell on this.

I am copying this letter to Jeremy Heywood (Treasury), Nigel Wicks (Treasury), Martin Stanley (Department of Trade and Industry) and Sonia Phippard (Cabinet Office).
