Although no substantial changes are being proposed to force deployments out of area as part of the current Options for Change review, we face decisions now in relation to HMS Endurance and the HK Patrol Craft, and, before long perhaps, over the West Indies Guardship. We must continue to resist any move to withdraw these valuable and visible assets. On other commitments, there is a continuing need for close and full consultation between the FCO and MOD at all times. This is especially true over the Belize Garrison, and also the planned rundown of the Hong Kong Garrison as well as
