Mr Lennox-Boyd has seen a copy of Mr Goulden's minute of 11 July submitting a re-draft of the minute to the Defence Secretary.

Mr Lennox-Boyd strongly supports Mr Goulden's conclusion that we should not imply that we could accept any change to the status of the West Indies Guard Ship (WIGS). Its role in the Caribbean, even if the Belize garrison is cut, will continue to be an important one.
