HONG KONG: ROYAL NAVAL PATROL CRAFT

1. Lord Caithness has amended the draft minute in order to link the fate of the Hong Kong patrol craft with earlier discussions about HMS Endurance and to flag up the patrol craft's present involvement in non-Hong Kong activities. Lord Caithness has commented that it is a pity that it will take until 11 July to produce the paper on "out of area defence commitments". He would much prefer if it could be submitted before the Secretary of State goes to South Africa (ie. effectively by this weekend).
