ROYAL COLLEGE OF DEFENCE STUDIES (RCDS): 1992 COURSE

1. The Chiefs of Staff have decided to invite a representative from the Government of Hong Kong to attend the 1992 RCDS course. We should be sure that any candidate will be likely to remain in Hong Kong after 1997.

2. The course is schedule to run from January to December 1992. Exact dates, joining instructions, and the Commandant's letter of welcome will be sent to you for onward transmission to the candidates nominated. The enclosed College brochure for 1991 lists at Annex C the participants on this year's course. It is recommended that married students be accompanied by their families wherever possible but this has to be at their own expense.

3. Course fees for 1992 are not yet established. As a guide, the basic tuition fee this year is £15,100 to which the cost of the integral UK and overseas tours (say, between £3,000 and £4,500 depending on the area visited) must be added. An additional expense is the cost of renting furnished accommodation in London for the duration of the

course.

I should be grateful if you would confirm as soon as possible by telegram to MODUK info RCDS and FCO, that the invitation is accepted in principle. The candidate's name, personal details and any comments you may wish to add should follow and reach RCDS (copy to us and MOD) as soon as possible.
