Initial Reserves (possible)
(proven plus probable)
The graph shows how estimated total initial oil reserves in present discoveries have varied since 1975. Whilst most of the increase at the proven plus probable level are the result of increases in producing fields, increasingly sophisticated reservoir management in some fields has led to significantly higher recovery factors than originally envisaged. Cumulative production is shown on a year by year basis.
