Dear Sirs,

DJZ 000 2014

You may recall our discussions on 19 July

about the student delegates who were refused entry to

Hong Kong. You presented a letter which I then

copied to the Hong Kong Governmeit.

In reply, the Hong Kong Government has asked

me to assure you that none of the student delegates

were subjected to any violence on the part of its

immigration authorities. Nor were any of them

forcibly deported to Taiwan at gin point: Hong Kong

immigration officers do not carry guns.

Indeed, none of the delegates were

They

deported. They were simply refused entry.

received all due courtesy and were allowed to make

telephone calls to friends, rela:ives, and lawyers in

Hong Kong and overseas.
