Dear Ambassador,

We are deeply concerned about the Hong Kong government's refusal to admit Chinese students with valid visas arriving in the territɔry to attend a meeting of the Global Chinese Students' Union.

In the absense of any explanation from the Hong Kong government as to the reason for these refusals, and in the light

over of recent negotiations

the airport project, we can only assume that the primary reason was pressure from Beijing.

These students were not planning to do anything but discuss the work of their association. For the Hong Kong government to prevent this kind of free discussion is worrying and bodes il. for the rights of Hong Kong citizens in the future.

We would welcome further explanation from you.

Yours sincerely,

тихи
