Dear had Caithness
On behalf of the OMELCO Delegation, I write to thank you most warmly for the time you gave to the Delegation this morning and for listening so patiently to their description of the very serious problem which has now arisen in Hong Kong. It is clear that we all have a very difficult job in the months ahead but I hope that we shall soon see light at the end of the tunnel.
Over the last three days we have made a considerable effort to contact media and MPs. This is not to make life needlessly difficult for you, but in the belief that parliamentary pressure will provide you with an additional weapon for arguing our case with the Americans and will also enable Parliament to send a clear signal to Hong Kong that it does indeed care about its problem.
I wonder if you would also thank the Secretary of State and your Officials for the understanding and assistance they gave to the Delegation.
Yours sincerely
Allia
