VISIT TO MOD BY GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG

1. This is to confirm telephone conversations earlier this week about the visit to the UK by Sir David Wilson, Governor of Hong Kong. While he is in the UK, Sir David was keen to brief a Minister and senior officials in the MOD on the current fast moving political situation in the Territory.

2. I have therefore arranged for the Governor to call on Minister (AF) at 1045 on 14 October for about 30 minutes; and for him to have a discussion with other main addressees in PUS' office for about 45 minutes starting at 1645 on Tuesday 15 October. I will arrange for briefing to be provided nearer the time and will be available to sit in on both meetings should you so wish.
