4. I assume that what the Japanese have in mind is alternate meetings in capitals. There would be no problem

over seeing visiting Japanese officials here; and I could,

for example, include a brief visit to Tokyo after a JLG

meeting in Hong Kong or Peking. The first opportunity to do

so would arise after JLG XIX, scheduled to take place in the

week beginning 10 June.
