TERMINATION OF SERVICE
(2)
Before an approving authority can approve the invaliding of an officer, he must satisfy himself on medical evidence in the form of a report of a Medical Board, that the officer is incapable of performing the principal duties of his rank, and that there is no definite prospect of his being able to do so within a reasonable period of time despite medical treatment.
Where the officer concerned is in Hong Kong, a medical board should be convened in accordance with CSR 940, and the procedures set out in paragraph (2) - (4) of Annex 2.3 should be followed.
(3) Where the officer is not in Hong Kong,
he should be medically examined by a medical practitioner duly authorised to make an examination. In Great Britain or Ireland, authorisation for a medical examination is granted by the Secretary of State. In other parts of the world it is granted by the Secretary for the Civil Service on the advice, wherever possible, of the principal British representative in that country. also CSR 934)
