financial resources in
the provision of housing
benefits and to
encourage home
ownership among civil
servants.
Latest Position
Staff continued to show interest in the new civil
service housing package. As at 13.12.90, there
were 3,225 applications for joining the new Home
Financing Scheme (HFS) and 2,878 applications for
the annual quota of 1,800 Home Purchase Scheme places.
Plans for deleasing surplus non-departmental
quarters (NDQ) are in hand to rationalize the
decreasing demand as a result of officers' option
to join the HFS. 80 NDQ will be deleased soon. The
affected occupants will be provided with appropriate
assistance, e.g. removal allowance, award of
directional points in the application for other
suitable NDQ.
