In view of the recent public reports in the media

the Co-operative Resource Centre I would like to use few minutes to say a few words on it.

As I have explained many times weeks, both publicly and privately, the idea for a resource centre came about because at the beginning of October, sonE colleagues who have no political affiliation or their own

resource support, started discussing the advantages of pooling resources, and came to the conculsion that economy of scale can enable us to deliver a higher quality of work, which would only be of benefit to this Council and to the public.

Members who decided

decided to join the Centre intend to use the

forum provided by the Centre for brainstorming, research, and the free and informal exchange of views on Legco business and matters of public concern. The Members delegated the authority of the setting up of the Centre to

group, of which I am not

member.

Contrary to allegations, I am not the Chairman of the Centre.

In the last few days, some colleagues have alleged that there is a conflict of interest between my role as Senior Member of the Legco In-House, and the Chairman of

the Centre. This is neither accurate nor fair.
