THE PROBLEM
Consequential amendments need to be made to the relevant subsidiary legislation to the Electoral Provisions Ordinance (Chapter 367) following the recent amendments to the Ordinance, at the same time we are introducing minor improvements to existing electoral arrangements.
RECOMMENDATION AND ADVICE SOUGHT

It is recommended that

BACKGROUND AND ARGUMENT Background

On 17 July 1990,
after consideration of memorandum XCC (90) 107, the Council ADVISED and the Governor ORDERED that the Electoral Provisions (Amendment) Bill 1990 should be introduced into the Legislative Council. The Bill was passed by the Legislative Council on 28 November 1990 with some amendments (mainly to the election petition provisions), and received the assent of the Deputy to the Governor on 29 November 1990.
