Endl. 3

Proposal on control of public display

of election banners and posters

DOS should before the nomination period identify

suitable spots in their district for the display of

publicity materials.

2 weeks before the commencement of the nomination

period, incumbent members and any prospective

candidates should be asked to remove all publicity

banners/posters which may be related to the coming

elections. This would eliminate any unfair advantage

displays may have. They would

owners of

existing displays

also be asked to refrain from displaying publicity

materials until the close of the nominations period.

(c) After the close of

an

nomination, DOS would convene a

meeting to allocate space on unleased Crown land on

equitable basis (e.g. drawing lots) to candidates

for the display of banners.
