base in any constituency. Its only real hope of winning a

The Liberal Democratic Federation (LDF)

The LDF managed to announce a slate of only 35

candidates (six of them also appeared on the HKCA list).

After the elections, however, a further 15 successful

candidates declared their affiliation with the LDF.

LDF is identified by the public as a

"pro-Peking business party." Some potential candidates were

reluctant to declare their support for the LDF for fear of
