When you were here you described to me your conversation with Martin Lee about Vietnamese Boat People and the reasonable position he took. Reasonable on ending asylum and the CPA he is. But I told you that I thought he was being excesively polite to a visitor, and avoiding his usual line about it all being HMG's responsibility.
Just to make the point, you might like to see his speech in the LegCo debate yesterday. You will note also the nice twist on the Defence Cost Agreement - a good populist cause, which the line he takes on asylum is not.
